“Noah Merritt of Scituate, Private in Captain Hayward Pierce’s Company, Colonel Jeremiah Hall’s Regiment, which marched December 10, 1776, Service 3 mos. 2 days; Company raised in Scituate and Hanover to serve at Briston, R.I.: Also Captain Hayward Pierce’s, Colonel Theophilu Colton’s Regiment: Enlisted Sept. 25, 1977 and discharged Oct. 28, 1777-- service one month and six days: company drafted from Scituate and Hanover and ordered to march on Tiverton, R.I. on a secret expedition. --Taken from Mass Soldiers and Sailors in the Revolutionary War, vol 10 p. 688.
Was in Col. Theophilus Cotton's Regiment during the Revolutionary War.
