General Notes:
Drove children around in his carriage with horse named Bonnie, and ceremoniously gave the children a dime to get ice cream.
Captain CSA; served at Shiloh, was wounded, captured, imprisoned in Nashville and paroled from Company E 1st TN infantry. Never fought again.
House Elm Grove built 1874 near home of "Cragfont" (1792) Gen. James Winchester at Castalian Springs near Gallatin, TN, still stands today. A picture of it is in Arthur Chitty Jr's possession.
Had 10 children, who all lived to adulthood.
Active in Masonic Order all his life, established many lodges throughout TN.
Died June 1895.
