  General Notes:

Father died when very young. Don't know names. Father grew up in Americus, GA.

Father was a carpenter who moved to Pensacola in 1857.

DAt the outbreak of the Civil War he formed a military company of which ex-Governor Perry was elected Commander. They captured the Pensacola Navy Yard for the Confederacy before it was actually formed. He served in the Army of Tennessee in cavalry. Held the rank of Lieutenant at the end of the War. Bullets passed through his clothing several times but he was never wounded.

Continued as a builder and contractor and was very significant in building "modern" Pensacola.

One day, after Molly had had a hard day with the children, Richard came home from work. She said, "Mr. Turner you must go speak to the children." He went in and said, "Good afternoon" to each.
